Tetra Tech (NASDAQ: TTEK) has been selected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management for a five-year, $49 million multiple-award contract to provide geospatial and engineering services for the agency’s Digital Coast platform.
The contract will support NOAA’s work on coastal hazard mitigation, monitoring, habitat restoration and ocean planning across the US, including the Great Lakes and US territories.
Under the agreement, Tetra Tech will provide geospatial data acquisition, geographic information system (GIS) services, data visualisation, analytics and modelling. The company will also support coastal engineering projects, including nature-based resilience solutions, and provide geospatial training for coastal resource managers.
Data and Engineering for Coastal Resilience
The Digital Coast platform provides coastal managers and communities with access to data, tools and training used to understand and respond to coastal risks. Tetra Tech’s work will add technical capabilities across data collection and analysis as well as engineering solutions.
The company said its geomatics specialists, scientists and engineers will use advanced geospatial technologies to support decisions involving coastal resources and infrastructure.
The scope includes applications ranging from hazard mitigation and coastal monitoring to habitat restoration and ocean planning. Such capabilities are increasingly important as coastal communities face risks from flooding, erosion and extreme weather.
Roger Argus, chief executive officer of Tetra Tech, said the company has supported NOAA in managing US coastal resources for more than 30 years. He said Tetra Tech would continue using its Tetra Tech Delta technology solutions to provide communities with data and analysis for coastal resilience planning.
Long-Term NOAA Relationship
The new award extends Tetra Tech’s long-standing work with NOAA and expands the role of geospatial technologies in managing coastal resources.
The company employs more than 25,000 people globally and provides engineering and technical services focused on water, environmental management and sustainable infrastructure.
For NOAA, the contract provides access to specialised technical expertise that can be deployed across a range of coastal programmes. For Tetra Tech, the award adds another long-term government contract to its portfolio while reinforcing its position in geospatial, environmental and resilient infrastructure services.
The five-year structure also provides a framework for continued technical support as coastal communities and resource managers develop strategies to address changing environmental and infrastructure risks.
